By Brand New
Well I wrote your name and burned it,
See the color of the flame,
And it burned out the whole spectrum as if you were everything,
I'm just burned gold,
A normal flame,
I am not anything,
And all that I remember is the feeling of waking up,
When we were kids you were the sun to which my eyes would not adjust,
When we were kids I was a fountain you could never drink enough,
Then came all the boys who swept you up,
Played careless with your heart,
And every night there was a new girl sitting beside me in my car,
Something dies when you grow older,
But you do the best you can,
I am glad,
I am glad,
You found a good man.

Saturday 2nd June 2012
So it's an awful lot later than we planned, but a 2010 wedding... not going to happen. Our wedding will now (hopefully) take place 2nd June 2012. We have a location, we have plans for who to invite and what we want our wedding to be, so all we need is the cash. And so we have this (ok, so it's still rather provisional...) date to give us something to work for. It might alter a little (Maybe a few weeks either way... depending on how fast we save and how fast the place gets booked up) but it is our destination, and it feels really good to have it in site and a bit of a plan to make things work.
Until then we have lots to focus on, lots to help ourselves achieve to make the final goal easier to achieve, but we will get there =]

Published and Made up!
Yeserday a copy of the Uni newspaper came out, and I rushed out for it because this week, one of my articles was going to be published in it. I opened it up, flicked over the page, and there I was on page four.
"Postgraduate boom Expected"
And then my very first by-line!
I swear I could have screamed there in the shop, the rush was incredible! I will definitely be going back for more asap!
So I think friday was my weirdly lucky day, my mummy (in celebration of valentines day and my publishing accomplishment) bought me three items of Benefit make-up (yes I am Benefit obsessed now!), all of which I now wonder how I lived without...
High Beam
Posie Tint
Some-Kinda-Gorgeous foundation.
As much as I adore the Max Factor Facefinity foundation, Some-kinda-gorgeous definitely gives me a more even coverages and lifts my skin more, thus with sme avon face perfector underneath, it'll be awesome. It's very matt looking which I adore, and helps my skin keep in it's moisture which is perfect for me.
The posie-tint is fantastic, one little pot two amazing uses, giving me a nice pink glow on my cheek bones, as well as a fantastic base for blush, as well as a brilliant pink stain for my lips, which when combined with a pale colour lip gloss just looks fab, nothing fancy for a night out, but a perfect lip-gloss look.
High Beam just illuminated my brow bone and very top of my cheek bones to give me a very very slight shine, emphasising my eyes beautifully. This can be used very little to create a nice "alive and alert" look for things like work, or apply more for a night out.
So while I take two products off of my make-up wish list... I have one to add: Dear John, the moisturiser, which the lovely lady used on me in the shop when i asked about the posie tint and high beam, my skin felt gorgeous with it. It's a very thick moisturiser making it perfect for dry skin, and a little goes an awful long way. but at £26.50 I'll be waiting a little while to pick that up.

Wedding bits and bobs...
I thought I would keep a record of all the bits and bobs I want to get when planning my wedding for the day itself...
This Tiara from Wedoweddingfavors.co.uk would be my perfect tiara... here is hoping it is still around when I come to buy this stuff!

There are plenty of butterfly bits on aweddinglessordinary.co.uk that I think would work fantastically, I would love to get a guestbook from there, as well as the pen and holder, and my youngest bridesmaid a purple bucket for petals for her to scatter down the aisle.
As placecard holders/little favours at our wedding these are the thing I would love to have from purefavors.co.uk

For our bigger reception/party I want these little placecard holders from purefavors.co.uk (click to view) Hovever for myself and my hubby, I am planning to have one of each of these adorable little bride and groom placecard holders from purefavors.co.uk.
Invites... I've spent ages trying to find invites, and finally settled on these from weddingcardprinters.co.uk, simple, classic and gorgeous.
Hopefully with all of these saved, when the time comes it will be far easier to budget, plan and order.

Cold Sores...
There is nothing worse or harder to treat than a cold sore, once you've got it, thats it, they come back for life. So how can you treat them effectively?
You can help prevent cold sores by taking Lysine, a natural supplement that will cut the duration of your cold sores by fighting the virus. Of course this is something you need to take daily, but it does help an awful lot.
I sadly suffer mine in the corners of my mouth, making it hard to open my mouth at times, so I used a medicated chapstick or similar to treat them directly when I have them, there are anti-viral creams out there too like Zovirax which if used from the moment you feel the tingle before they pop up can help cut them down too.
There is plenty you can do - don't suffer with them! Read more about Lysine here.

Skin Care
Skin care is very important to my daily routine, I have medical needs to keep my skin healthy and clean, as well as the fact that my skin is super dry, which means constant moisturisation is needed. So as you can imagine, I've been through many, many skin care products.
I finally settled on two mositurisers which work fantastically well for me: Boots' No.7 Advanced Hydration and The Body Shop's Hemp Face Protector. The reason I have two is because your skin does become used to a product and will make it less effective, mostly only when it comes to facecare products that go into your pours, like moisturisers, toners, cleansers etc.
The Hemp Face Protector is a very thick and heavy cream - but don't let this put you off, it works all day and for me, illiminated the need to moisturise at night too. However, the heavyness does mean your skin adapts to it fairly fast.
No.7's Advanced Hydration Day cream will last me all day, however I will often need to reapply at night (I know I should buy the night cream version... but I am a student... lol!). It's a thinner cream, but goes on like silk and makes your skin feel soft and hydrated, there is nothing worse than that itchy feeling you get when your skin is all dry.
Of course, I also remove my make up carefully at night, I bought Johnson's 3 in 1 Eye Make Up Remover, it is wonderfully gentle, but it certainly lacks no power. It does exactly what it says on the bottle: Gently removes even waterproof mascara, conditions the eyelashes and cares for the delicate eye area, fab!
Now with my skin, toning is not high on my list of things my skin can handle, so I perchased Johnsons 3 in 1 Dreamy Skin facial night wipes, which will remove my facial make-up and panda eyes if I'm left with them hehe, and it will gently tone my skin and the ones I have even smell really lush as they are scented with relaxing moonflower aroma. Brilliant little wipes!
As for exfoliation, I only do this once a week, with my skin, that is all it can handle but I am currently between products, so I shall update with that soon!

So what's in my new make-up bag?
I threw out an awful lot of old make up to replace it with newer (nicer) stuff, I've replaced my foundation, concealer and eyeliner, added some primers, and thats about it... so what are the products?
My foundation is Max Factor Facefinity powder, I use a brush to apply a very gentle dusting, and that is probably the best thing about this foundation is that a very little amount goes a long way and really helps achieve a flawless finish.
My concealer is Benefit's Boi-ing industrial strength concealer again, this product is a definite "a little goes a long way" product. It glides on easily and covers up anything (I challenged it with my dark circles and pow gone!), application is easy with fingers.
Avon Face Perfector Primer is what I aim to begin using as soon as I recieve it to prime my skin BEFORE I put on any foundation etc to help create a matte floorless look.
When I want to apply eyeshadow I now make sure to use Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion, it helps the colour last all day and stops it from creasing, fantastic! It's really easy to apply, but very tough to get a hold of!
I usually buy Mac eyeshadows, as I adore the colours and think they are fab. However I bought a gift set of Urban Decay eyeshadows in order to get some of the primer teehee, they are just as good as the Mac eyeshadows I have bought in the past and in the set I bought I got 6 colours, a mini eyeliner (which is very nice also I might add) and the eyeshadow primer also, for this kit I paid £18.50, the primer normally ranges from £10-11.50 and their eyeshadows are usually £10 each, so it is a bargin!
I use a body shop blush trio shade block, it gives me a really lovely pale pink glow and has a shimmer too it, which is fab every day as it gives me a little bit of life, but also looks great on a night out when I apply more, giving me a more dramatic look.
There are so so many more things that I want to add to my make-up bag! I just need the cash!

Oh Wow! I love this product!
I bought myself a Gosh black kohl eyeliner (£4.50 in superdrug) today, the Gosh eyeliner is really highly reccomended on Beauty & The Make Up Bag , and I totally see why, I thought I'd practise using it as it's a new product and I'm very new to the application of eyeliner in the way I am now doing it, and it glides on, nice and easy, creates a wonderfully clear line and at the same time you can smudge it very gently to create a softer look where your line begins, fantastic! The perfect eyeliner! Excellent! Not to mention at £4.50 it really doesn't break the bank and comes in other colours if you want a different look =]
So recently
I've had a bit of a personal overhall... changing my look from no make-up can't be arsed me, to light make-up every day... until now make-up and I have had a bit of an odd relationship for years. I really couldn't figure out what I thought of it, whether I thought women shouldn't have to feel like they need to alter their looks under a barrage of make-up, or whether women shouldn't feel they have to not wear it in order to be "real". The only thing I really was sure of was that make-up should in no way become the thing that makes you confident and bright, it should only be an enhancement.
And now I am sure that provided you use make-up because YOU want to, not because you feel you have to, then what the hell. So thanks to the wonderful advice from one of my favorite blogs Beauty and the Make Up Bag, I have had a make-up bag overhall and have been watching stuff on youtube, bascially re-teaching myself make-up basics and how to's and what not to do's and it's been the most fabulous fun I have had in a long time.
I have found that going out with only some concealer, some foundation & blush and eyeliner & Mascara (10 mins application max) I have a better attitude, I feel slightly better and I use my confidence more than I have done before, make-up DOES NOT make me more confident, just makes me feel like I want to use it, rather than hiding at the back of the lecture room, praying the lecturer doesn't pick on me!
I just got my new Benefit Boi-ing concealer through and bought a new eye-liner pencil as reccomended on the blog linked above and can't wait to try them out!
